Preparedness Challenge - December Week 1

Hooray! You made it to the last month of the year. Since you're super busy with holiday plans, we'll only have two weeks of challenges. This week you'll gather sugars, honey and vitamins into your food storage. The recommended adult amount of white sugar per month is 5 lbs., or 60 lbs for a year. If you don't like white sugar, substitute another sweetener like honey. Or have a mixture of several items.

1. Buy Sugars or Honey For Food Storage
If you live in a small home, focus on a 3-month supply of sugars. I you live in a large home, add to your year's supply of sugar.

Lucky us the LDS Home Storage Centers have long-term white sugar on sale!
- 5.6 lb. can is $4.50 (reg. $5.00).
- Box of 6 cans is $27.00. (reg. $30.00).
- Honey bottles are $4.00.

3-Month Food Storage Ideas:
  • White sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Pancake or maple syrup
  • Jam
  • Confectioners sugar
Long-Term Food Storage Ideas:
  • White sugar, 30 year-shelf life
  • Honey
2. Buy Vitamin C
It's recommended that we have Vitamin C in our food storage supply in case we are ever without this necessary nutrient.

Just add a few items to your grocery list to make it happen.

  1. Do you still have any of your old ("Be Organized", "Be Doers", etc.)calendars/tables from 2015? I really liked the details included in those but I cannot find my May or November lists. I wanted to share them with my stake R.S. sisters Kathy R

    1. I no longer sell that and don't have an original. Someone tried to sell my calendars, so I moved away from that. Sorry, Kathy.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!
