Most of my friends know I'm a planner. I'm not good at winging it, so I have to say when I'm guided by the Spirit, amazing things happen if I listen. Pondering the 2012 natural disasters and current economy confirms to me that we live in perilous times. To face the storms that may come, we need to make a conscientious effort to become prepared both physically and spiritually. And not get distracted along the way.
Considering all of this over the past few weeks, helped me create a 12-Month Food Storage Preparedness Plan for 2013. I am also making some changes to PreparedLDSFamily. I want to make food storage and emergency preparedness doable for as many people as possible.
I'm not a creative cook, but my semi-homemade approach to cooking has helped me see that even I can have a food storage! We will not starve.
That's why I like to share monthly and weekly food storage lists. Sure you can always follow a check list, but there is something about someone prompting and encouraging you along the way that helps you stay on track as you build up and replenish your food storage and emergency supplies.
Here are some changes for PreparedLDSFamily in 2013:
- No more weekly suggestions for 72-hour kits and auto kits. These emergency supplies should be done quickly, and I will share ideas on how to do that economically.
- The printable monthly food storage lists won't look exactly like last years. And yes, you can share them with friends and without asking me. Thank you for telling me you like them!
- New monthly spiritual focus. We need to refill the oil in our lamps. So I will share family home evening ideas, talks, videos and my thoughts on a monthly spiritual topic.
- More pictures and videos. I promise!
- You can see what my blog focus will be each month below.
Best wishes and Happy New Year!
Valerie

I am extremely appreciative of all the time, work and thought you have put into this blog! I had been using your weekly shopping lists for my local ward and they were most helpful. Seeing what you are doing for 2013, I must say you and I are hearing a similar message. I am excited to continue sharing your blog and also continuing to learn from you. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteThank you for your hard work. I especially appreciate the part "I want to make food storage and emergency preparedness doable for as many people as possible." since I've tried to keep up with other preparedness guides but often get a little sidetracked or lost as things chug along.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome!! You inspire me so much!!
ReplyDeleteWe are thankful there are people like you who think of the welfare of others. I agree with you that we have to plan ahead to withstand the effect of calamities in our lives. By following your plan, we can be successful in achieving our goals like the food storage in Utah.
