I love that it you are able to charge your cell phone too. What a great thing to have during a power outage. This would be great to have camping too.
ReplyDeleteWe just moved to hurricane country, and this would be perfect to keep track of weather events.
ReplyDeleteI could use one of these in earthquake country--southern Californis.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a good radio that we can depend on and that we can afford. This would be the primary household emergency radio. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great addition to my family's emergency preparation supplies. It would be a very practical, useful item to use to stay informed about what is going on and to be able to keep phones charged so as to have a way to get in touch with others.
ReplyDeleteI've been through a couple of hurricanes and the resulting power outages. One lasted a week. A radio like this would have been so welcome during that time! Having this would help me feel more at ease during hurricane season.
ReplyDeleteI would be so happy to have something to keep me informed during a power outage.
ReplyDeletemy husband and i have been going through our food storage/preparedness stuff to see what areas we were really lacking to boost up before the summer. our area gets a lot of tornadoes, and although we have been lucky so far, it scares me to think we dont have a radio like this in case of emergency/power outage. thanks for your site and all the help you provide!

I would use this radio in an emergency to see what is going on locally. I'd also use it to charge my cell phone to stay in touch with relatives farther away.
ReplyDeleteI would use this as my primary emergency radio as the one I have is a small portable that only broadcasts through headphones (which is really inconvenient).

We live in a rural mountainous area where we can't get radio stations at home. Therefore, we don't even own a portable radio. If we had to hunker down at home, we would use this for a light and cell phone charger. However, it would be most useful if we had to evacuate. This would probably be our only means of receiving communications from the outside world! I am very excited abbout this!
ReplyDeletei love that you are able to use it for more than just a radio!! it is the one thing i am missing at the moment in our 72 hour kits.
ReplyDeletei love that you are able to use it for more than just a radio.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at radios for a few weeks! This is one of my top picks, so I would love to win this! We don't have a weather radio for emergencies at all and to be able to use this through various charging situations would be great.
ReplyDeleteI would use it to know what I can do best for my family, where to go, etc. It would be horrible to have no connection with others in an emergency.
ReplyDeleteWe live in a flood zone, and are often affected by hurricanes and tornados (our neighborhood was hit by a tornado in April 2011). Luckily our home was one of the ones that was spared! But we were without power for a little over a week... I was 28 weeks pregnant and had a 18 month old at the time. Since then I have been frequently updating 72 hour kits and "beefing up" our supplies for power outages and evacuations. This radio would be a great addition, since it has so many features!
ReplyDeleteBatteries never seem to be dependable. It would be wise to have a solar radio also. What a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI like that it even includes lights - it is scary during an emergency if you can't see what is going on.

I would use the radio to monitor the situation during an emergency. I live in Oklahoma, and just about any time there is a thunderstorm we lose power. Last year, there was a tornado just about a mile from my house and we had no idea until we saw it due to no power and not being able to listen to or watch the news reports.
ReplyDeleteIts so important during any kind of emergency that we are still able to find out information about what to do, where to evacuate to, what we can expect and how long we will need to be on our own. I LOVE that his radio is solar powered and that it has so many other functions. I also like that it includes all 7 weather bands. (Hubby says he likes the flashlight capabilities) Looks very handy and small too.
ReplyDeleteActually, we had a solar powered radio and it quit working 6 months ago. We've been looking to replace it and this one seems to be much more of a radio than the one we had. Charging cell phones..now that's a big plus!

ReplyDeleteI would definately love this radio to stay informed during an emergency. There's nothing worse than not knowing what's going on in an emergency.
ReplyDeleteam working hard to build up our emergency kits and this radio would do the trick. I love all of the features and options the radio offers. What a great addition to any home.
ReplyDeleteSince I was just without power for 6 hours because of a storm, this would have been so nice to have. I see what is lacking in my prepardness attempts.
ReplyDeleteA solar powered radio is a great idea. It would be great to have it in a power outage, or other emergency.
ReplyDeleteWe would use this when traveling and camping for emergency radio access and power for charging phones should we need to.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great addition to our emergency kits should we lose power.
ReplyDeleteA way to get information during a disaster is so very important. I'm currently going through and updating our disaster kits. This radio would be a great addition!
ReplyDeleteI would use it if we were hit with a tornado.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that the radio/light has the solar charging option, and the accessories to charge cell phones! I would also use it in an extended power outage to keep my Kindle charged, to pass the time and to utilize my prep e-books and info. Thank you for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea to have solar, crank, and battery. I could use this when I'm outside doing yardwork...as long as I remember to put it back in my emergency kit!
ReplyDeleteI love that it's solar powered! I would use this radio to keep informed and charge our cell phones.
ReplyDeleteJust checked my water supply (thinking of you); putting more tap/chlorine aside (looking up the ratio on your site) and now you also have a radio giveaway. No wonder you are my go-to-lady. Merci
ReplyDeleteHow fortuitous! My husband and I were just searching the web, reading reviews, trying to decide on an emergency radio! In our area, it would be power outages due to inclement weather.
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting out getting creating emergency food, water and other items for my family. This would be a great addition to our small (but growing steadily) kits! And since its not soley reliant on solar power its great for just about any situation. Thank you for the opportunity and all of the information you provide on your blog, its very helpful to a newbie like myself.
ReplyDeleteI would use this with our 72hr supplies and pull it out for simulated emergencies to make sure we know how to use/play it. I like that it has so many different features.
ReplyDeletelike that it is solar powered also and that it can charge other things-like cell phones, etc.
ReplyDeletei would give this as a gift to my elderly parents to step up their preparedness. being old school means they are more radio user friendly aswould appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteWe have had some strong winds lately that have knocked out power. This would be great for our 72 hour kit to keep up on weather and emergency advisories. Thanks for a great giveaway. I recently started following your blog.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a blessing to our preparedness.
ReplyDeleteWe are just starting our prepping and this would be a great item to have! We could use it to keep track of emergency news and charge our cell phones. Thank you for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI would use it to keep my family and I safe during all of the crazy thunderstorms we have here in Kansas. I'm hoping to never use it during a tornado!
ReplyDeleteWe could definitely use the Solar Radio here in Hawaii! Living on an island we don't have contact with the outside world if the electricity is down. This would be great to help keep my family safe, and those who live around us.
ReplyDeleteI would use this in case of a power outage etc. in CA. It is one thing that is missing in my emergency kit right now!
ReplyDeleteI really like that it has so many features. This would have been so helpful during the hurricanes (and the aftermath) when we lived in FL. Now we are in CA hoping for no earthquakes! We'd use this for any emergency, but for camping, too.
ReplyDeleteThis is sucha nice Radio! I would definately use it to communicate during a disaster and know what i can do to keep my family safe. I have a family to protect. I will share this radio with the men at church who are testing various radios for communication "just in case".
ReplyDeleteThanks
I just finished reading "One Second After" sorry can't remember the author. The thing that struck me the hardest was how scary it gets when you have no idea what is happening and why. Communication is so vital in any situation especially during an emergency. That is one area we have not addressed yet because we felt we needed a better qualtiy radio than the little cheap models. This radio looks like what we need. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI would use it in any emergencey that we might face. It is a great thing to have around.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has been without power for an amount of time, they would see the value in such an item. I would use it for needed information during an emergency. And it would be nice to help pass the time waiting for power to be restored.
ReplyDeleteI would use the radio when we are under a tornado warning or when severe weather is threatening.
ReplyDeleteCharge a cell phone!
ReplyDeleteI would put this in our 72 hour kits to get important info in an emergency or disaster. I also love that it is more than just a radio and that it is solar powered!
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to get one of these radios for emergencies. It would be awesome to win it instead!
ReplyDeleteI like that it is solar and crank. This would be my primary emergency radio.
ReplyDeletePannydora
I would we sweet to be able to jam even if there is an emergency
ReplyDeleteI would love this radio for my 72 hour kit as well as camping. I love the light and cell phone charging part of it as well. I don't currently have one.
ReplyDeleteI would use it for camping and my 72 hour kit.
ReplyDeleteI would use this when our power goes out. It would really be a beneficial thing to have when you have no access to information.
ReplyDeleteDuring power outage or crisis of any kind, information is powerful. It is calming. It is vital for safety and psychological reasons.
ReplyDeleteIt can be entertainment and bring normalcy to an isolating time.
I like how the solar panel tips up also. We broke our solar/crank radio during the "big wind" 12/1/11. So need a replacement :)
We have recently moved into a new housing development located on the prairie on the edge of tornado ally. this would be helpful not only to recharge cellphones in a power outage but to keep track of weather warnings and a light source.

The advantages of solar power are far-reaching. Although solar power is a relatively new energy source, it may easily become the most important energy source of the future.
